A box of smokes laced with nitroglycerin.

I find my default picture choice ideally ironic. I've been absent from Livejournal since early summer of 2005. A number of contributing factors were responsible for that--Livejournal was still fairly simplistic in terms of its past format and the navigation was severely lacking. the few communtities I was an active participant in started to decline in maturity, creativity, and logical, mature debate and constructive critique. A majority of my friends also began to abandon Livejournal altogether, or simply turned to similar sites, such as Xanga, Myspace, and Facebook. Still others found they simply didn't have time to maintain a blog throughout their college life and work schedules. I admit, I fell into this pattern, too. Sometime in July of 2005, I left Livejournal firmly convinced it was "for good." I made the switch to Xanga, but was quickly disenchanted with that community as well. About a year later, I joined Myspace--and am still very active on it. I also joined the cult instinct and joined Facebook earlier this year at the start of my Freshman year in college.

I'm sure you're confused by now. It sounds as if I hate Livejournal to some of you, I'm sure. As a result, I'm sure you're puzzled as to why I even bothered to return at all, if I was so unhappy with it last time. Part of it is because the site has vastly improved. I want to be involved with the communities again, and I am much happier with the overall layout and navigation of the site as a whole. But the main reason is, a lot of my friends have also been returning to Livejournal recently, as well as some of my new friends, and they've been pestering me to give Livejournal another chance ever since they discovered I had a stagnant account. So, here I am. I'm eager to keep in touch with my newer friends and reestablish contact with some of my older friends I left behind three years ago. A lot of us attend college several states away--and Livejournal, Myspace, and Facebook make it a lot easier to stay in touch with each other than a phone call, which is twice as expensive when a majority of outgoing calls are long distance.

Some of my friends have yet to even purchase a cell phone, dinosaurs that they are. xD Reasons and excuses for my leaving and then my return aside, I am indeed back. Your favorite Fluffy/Sith/Turk is planning on sticking around for at least a little while. That being said, a lot has changed in the past three years. Long story painfully short, I am back to being single again after a rather...horrific breakup, which is still more or less without closure of any sort. He is now dating my best friend who is more like a younger sibling to me than anything else, and so that makes things...a touch awkward. I will be a Sophomore at Randolph-Macon College this fall, and entering my second year of college.

My GPA is currently a 3.12, and I am only about ten points away from being eligable for the Honor's Program offered at the college, which also entails classes only reserved for said Honor Program students. I was cast in my first college drama production as one of the main characters this past May--Terry Pratchett's Monstrous Regiment. Most of you know that this is a big deal for me personally, being as I am a huge and nearly rabid fan of Mr. Pratchett. It is an even bigger deal as I was Angua, who along with Vimes tops my favorite character in the Discworld series.

My major of International/Asian studies was finally delcared this month. Just last week, to be precise. I will most likely double major in English and minor in Drama.

You may now consider yourselves largely caught up. However...this post being the exception, further entries will be:
